You may have seen these Kailijumei lipsticks on Buzzfeed, but they really are as cute as they look in photos. The actual color changes with body temperature and generally looks like a lightly tinted lip gloss. The texture is not sticky at all. Obviously, I mainly got this for the tiny flower and specks of gold.
fullsizerender-4I usually don’t go for trendy pieces, but as I’m still on the fence about the Lisi Lerch tassel earrings, I decided to compromise and try BaubleBar’s Piñata Tassel Drops. They’ve been a hit so far! I’ve received a lot of compliments, and they automatically make any outfit seem fresh and fun.

I’ve gotten a new agenda book every year, since I was in the fifth grade, and this ban.do 17-month planner is hands down my favorite. It’s the perfect size, since there is less of a border than with most “designer” agendas, which cuts down on the bulk and makes it more convenient to carry around. And the adorable graphics just make my day! This is the first time I’ve had an agenda that isn’t lined, which I’d originally thought would seem less organized, but I’m actually appreciating the freedom. For more agendas, check out Sally’s post featuring some of my other season favorites.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I’ve been wanting a cape for roughly ten years. So when I came across this Ellen Tracy cape during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I finally decided to make my dream come true. I love that this particular cape can be dressed up or down more easily than most, and the pop of baby blue in the lining and hood is a unique touch. DC’s mild autumn weather lasts longer than most cities, so I can see myself wearing this a lot this year. If only this current summer weather would end soon…

Have you checked out Book Marks? It’s a “book review aggregator,” which is essentially Rotten Tomatoes for books. Perusing the reviews on books I’ve read, they generally match my own ratings, which is pleasantly surprising. This is truly the best thing since Goodreads.

Few things are more exciting than finding in your closet a pair of skirt-like shorts that you bought in France four years ago (but completely forgot about and, therefore, have never actually worn), just in time for shorts weather!

Last weekend, to celebrate my mom’s birthday, my family had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Raleigh, Saint Jacques. The best part about this restaurant is their unique twist on one of my most favorite desserts, vacherin glacé. It’s basically meringue stuffed inside a block of vanilla ice cream, which is covered in pralines and chocolate syrup… If you’re not drooling at this point, you’re probably not a human.

IMG_1463I try not to be super picky about earphones because mine always end up broken or lost, and I haven’t decided yet if the quality of nice, over-ear headphones would be worth the price and inconvenience. But I’ve tried pretty much all of the popular brands and models of inexpensive earphones, and at the end of the day, nothing beats the Sony MDREX58V/BLK EX Series Earbud Headphones. These earphones boast a wide range and incredible balance of sound (looking at you, Panasonic). You can listen to music at a decent volume without bothering a neighbor (looking at you, Apple). And what’s most impressive? Bass.

IMG_1374When most people think of breakfast, they probably don’t think of Taco Bell. But a dear friend asked me to review Taco Bell’s new breakfast menu, and even though she was probably joking, I’ll try anything once. So I ordered a Waffle Taco with sausage and an A.M. Crunchwrap with bacon. They tasted as good as you’d expect fast food breakfast to be, and I’d say they’ll give McDonald’s a run for its money. (Plus, Taco Bell’s breakfast ends later at 11 am.) As for afterwards, I felt fine, though I did go for a run later in the day and had to wonder if my breakfast was to blame for my pace, which was slightly slower than usual…

Everyone marvel at my sorority’s dance team! Placing among the top five at the Greek Week Variety Show is kind of a big deal, and this year the ladies won third!

IMG_1360I’m definitely one of those people who wear tees whenever possible. And while I’ve racked up quite a collection, I’ve found J. Crew’s options to be among the best. Their tees are so comfortable, yet fitted so nicely that no one would guess you randomly threw one on before running out the door. My favorite at the moment is this Painter Button Boatneck tee. I absolutely love the cut, color, and detailed buttons. The Painter tee is also available in different styles, colors, and patterns.

IMG_1269Have you ever heard of a strawberry pillow? Neither had I until a couple weeks ago. The things you learn when you visit a bakery on a daily basis… A strawberry pillow, which, Google has informed me, is also known as a Pope’s pillow, is made up of strawberries, custard, whipped cream, and chocolate syrup, all enclosed between two halves of a puff pastry. It’s basically a dessert sandwich, which, coincidentally, just happens to be my favorite type of sandwich.

IMG_1366This is practically a public service announcement, but Amazon is currently offering an incredible deal on the Steve Madden Mikka pumps. These patent leather heels are ideal for the office, since they’re not too tall, but are still flattering, like all Steve Madden shoes. I ordered both black and blush (which is actually closer to nude). If you decide to order these, make sure you choose a half-size up from your usual size. I almost never do this, but trust me–in this case, it’s necessary!

IMG_1364I promise I wasn’t planning to feature yet another nail polish here, but I finally left my Essie bubble and had to share. OPI Tickle My France-y is a lovely, neutral tan or beige color, with slightly pink or purple undertones, depending on the lighting. It’s the perfect shade for casual, everyday wear.

Someone, with even less of a life than I have, recorded every single cultural reference from every single episode of The Office and arranged them into various Youtube videos. The Office Time Machine allows you to pick a year and view the subsequent video with all of the show’s cultural references that originated in that particular time period. This makes me so unbelievably happy, not only because The Office is my all-time favorite show, but because it really proves how “culture enriches everything.” Now if only someone would do the same with Gilmore Girls

IMG_1330While searching for business-casual shoes, I found these lovely Nine West Guetette pumps, on sale at Belk. These heels are surprisingly comfortable and work-appropriate, compared to most of my pumps, which are too tall for a professional setting. Meanwhile, the navy suede and ruched detail make them anything but boring office shoes.IMG_1336

If you have yet to master the just-rolled-out-of-bed-but-still-appear-presentable look, try this Sofn’free GroHealthy Milk Protein & Olive Oil Daily Growth Lotion. I use it to smooth down flyways and add some extra shine, not to mention that its natural ingredients are particularly beneficial. This company’s products are made with afros specifically in mind, so they should work, no matter how unruly your hair might be.IMG_0757

Spring is finally here! Time to break out the Jordan almonds!IMG_1295

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I need to let everyone know about yet another Essie colorLilacism is elegant and bright, without being obnoxious. Depending on a room’s lighting, this complex color might reveal blue or purple undertones, and it’s perfect for the spring season. As with all of my Essie polishes, this color receives so many compliments from strangers whenever I wear it!IMG_1328

Since this probably won’t last long, I’m reveling in the fact that my bracket has been ranked first in my pool since the start of March Madness!

When I spent a day-long layover wandering around Warsaw last year, I spent the majority of the time admiring Polish pottery through shop windows. The exquisite pieces are still made from the country’s high-quality clay and hand-painted. As soon as I noticed The Peacock’s Eye Polish pottery shop, just down the street from my internship, I had to visit, and I couldn’t walk out without a traditional bubble mug.

Ceylon cinnamon, also known as “true cinnamon,” straight from Sri Lanka. Can’t wait to use it in my favorite tea.IMG_1302My search for the Origins Clear Improvement mask, featured last week, led me to find these Boscia Pore Purifying Black Strips. They’re a little pricey, but I was intrigued and looking for an alternative to the Bioré version, which actually seem to create even more damage by leaving a sticky residue. I was happy to find that the Boscia strips, which use charcoal powder to draw out impurities, are much more effective, and I’ll be adding these to my biweekly routine.
IMG_1277My first ever “cake push-up” from my favorite dessert bakery in the area. Where have these been all my life?

Have you ever seen Jimmy Kimmel’s Lie Witness News series? It demonstrates just how far people will go to look “cool.” And it’s hilarious! Here’s the most recent edition, interviewing SXSW attendees. And if you feel like listening to bands that actually exist, check out these music videos.
